My weekend retreat....

I met up with a few of my buddies last weekend and went on a retreat to Lake Cushman WA. (oh, I hope I spelled that right Missy) It was so much fun... There was snow everywhere on the ground, it poured rain the whole time, and we even had a thunder and lighting storm. (which my friend Kathy slept through the whole thing) PERFECT weather for scrapping.... :)

I don't think any of us changed out of our pj's and we mush have ate as much as we scrapped. "Hey thats what retreats are for right? There's no calorie counting when you scrap" It was really nice hanging out with some of my oldest scrapping buddies (I don't mean old in age, I mean we have scrapped together for a long time)

While the fire place roared with a nice toasty warm fire. We created and caught up on a few years that we have been apart because I lived in AK. Im pretty sure that by the end of the weekend they were probably wondering if they were living in Melinda's version of band camp... I kept saying all weekend "in AK we did this...." or "in AK its like this" Good golly I'm sorry girls for all the AK stories... Thanks for listening and being such great friends...

Even though I bogged them down with my AK chit chat... We all had a very productive weekend.. :) I believe Missy had a dozen layouts complete... (wow!! record breaker) Kathy was not to far behind with 9 layouts. Brenda completed her daughters graduation album and I did most of my Viva mini album. (Viva is my 11 year old wiener dog) I also completed a few small canvases for my mom's kitchen and I started a new project Im working on. Phew... we were busy gals.

It was a very creative and exhausting weekend. Thank you my friends for inviting me to the Cushman retreat... I loved every minute and it is ALWAYS a blast to be with each of you. I hope we go again soon.. :)

Lisa King

I'm Lisa King from Kelso, Washington. My husband and I have been married for 26 years, and we have two kids, both in college. I work as a teacher's aide at a local elementary school, a job I've been blessed to do for 13 years. And I also have two cats who think their hair should be a part of every project I create!

I've been scrapbooking since my daughter was 3 (she's 18 now). I saw a scrapbook that a friend made for her daughter, and I said, "I have to do that!" What started as stickers and a few die cuts has turned into my favorite way to relax, create and spend time with friends. I scrap mostly 8 1/2 x 11 size, but love to make mini albums, cards and creative "projects" involving paper.

When not working or scrapping, you can find me reading, watching reality TV (Survivor!) and spending time with my family. We are Disney fanatics, and a lot of my albums and layouts focus on our many trips to Disneyland. I also love the beach and hope to own a home somewhere on the Oregon Coast in the future. And I'm rarely without a cup of coffee nearby!

I want to thank Melinda for asking me to be her guest designer for December. What a fun opportunity! Happy holidays and happy scrapping!

My Name is Tracee and I live in Bristol UK with my DH our 2 youngest children & our very spoiled doggies. I am also a Grand mum to a beautiful 7 year old little girl called Star.
I have always crafted in one form or another since I was a small child from stuffed toys to knitted scarves. I was introduced to scrapping in 2004 & I have never looked back with each layout bringing more love for this hobby along with a whole group of friends who share the same love.

My family & dogs are the main focus of my work, I just love how you can turn a memory, that might otherwise be forgotten in time, into something very special indeed.

Really I'm quite a sensitive soul with a small amount of crazy thrown in, right now I am loving my scrappy journey and all the fun friendship and memories it brings everyday. With an ever changing world scrapping remains my Safe Haven & most days you will find me at some point in my craft room.

Our 1 year "gone live" anniversary

We are celebrating our 1 year "gone live" anniversary. Phew.... Its hard to believe we have been doing this for a year now. It has been so much fun, I can't even begin to express how lucky I feel. My favorite craft in the world is now my job, I have to admit I feel like one lucky girl. This year has been a whirlwind though and I have to admit I was wondering if I was going to make SC's work. My husband lost his job of 13 years in March and then the "BIG" move from AK to Nevada. (which we are still in OR waiting for our house to close) I couldn't have done any of this with out my loyal DT. Thank you so much Heather, Aimee, and Janet. All of your hard work and dedication has really helped show case each one of my kits. I can't express how much I appreciate each of you. I also would like to send an extra thank you to Heather for all of her great input on kit ideas. Girl you are my scrapping rock!!! I don't know what I would do with out you. Also, I can not forget to mention all of YOU... Thank you..... Thank you..... Thank you.... for supporting SC's. I appreciate each and every one of you. Because of SC's I feel like I have friends all over the world. Thank you for all your great in put and daily emails. I love it!!!
As we move forward to a new year, SC's is brewing up new ideas, we will keep you posted.

Scrappy Chics Design Team Call

Scrappy Chics is looking for 3 new designers to join our very talented design team. If you love scrapbooking and paper crafts we would encourage you to try for our team.

This DT position will start with December 2011 kit and end with May 2012 kit. We ask for very serious, ambitious, and committed chics that love the scrapbook world as much as we do.

This DT call is open for the US and International submissions. (international DT members will be responsible for part of the shipping charges)

For being a part of SC team and for all your commitment, you will receive either a main kit each month or an add-on kit plus embellishment kit. It will alternate each month. Plus you will receive 30% off SC kits during your 6 month term.

Here is what SC’s would need from you:

You must complete a minimum of 3 layouts, 3 cards or 2 layouts, a project, or 3 cards and a project. These need to be sent to SC by the 25th of each month for reveal day, which is the 1st of each month. Your projects, layouts,cards etc. need to be posted on your blogs, facebook, twitter and any other public galleries you participate in.
Daily participation on SC’s facebook is required. Also when SC’s blog is running smoothly participation on the blogs forum will be required. SC is asking you to post questions, techniques, or whatever to keep conversations going on our FB page.
We also ask that you post at least two tutorials during your DT term. They can be either photo or video tutorials.

If you are interested heres how to apply:

Please submit your information plus projects to info@scrappychics.com

Please include:
Name, Address, phone number
Tell us why you want to be a part SC’s DT and how you would be a good addition to our team.
We will need links to your blog, galleries and please submit a resume of your paper craft history. (just a general explanation will be fine)
Please submit 3 layouts, 3 cards and 2 altered projects.
We would also like a list of all your DT commitments. We ask that while you are designing for SC kit club that you will not be on any other kit club’s DT’s. We dont mind if you design for, local scrap stores, sketch clubs or manufacturers.

All submissions must be sent in by November 2, 2011 and the announcement of our new DT members will be November 4, 2011

Hi, this is Heather, and I just wanted to share a layout that I did using the add on kit for July. This kit features paper by Simple Stories. I love it! It's so summery and cheery. It worked perfect for my pictures of my little girl getting her face painted at her 3rd birthday party.

My Printers Tray

I love old vintage things!! I have always loved printers tray's they are just so much fun and they have so many possibilities. My friend Carrie gave me a printers tray. (thanks Carrie, love it!! ) I decided to re-do it... I painted it, distressed it, and modge podged some paper to the back side. It was so much fun... :) This is what I ended up with. Its perfect storage for my stickles, embossing powders, and glimmerz. I'm still on a creative high from this project.

Its here!!!! April's kit is sooo darn Springy and cute!!! After a looooong winter up here in Alaska it was very refreashing putting together Aprils kit. I believe I had spring fever in Jan. Scrappy Chics has been growing like crazy the past few months. Thank you everybody who has become a member. I appreciate it sooooo much!!! With SC's growth we decided to add another member to our DT. Im so happy to have Janet as a part of our team. She is a go getter and she is filled with so much energy and ideas. I love it!!! I cant wait for everybody to see her April projects, they are springy and fun. She is awesome. Below is her bio and pic. My name is Janet Perafan-Babar, I am a WAHM originally from New York City, then moved to New Jersey in 1996 when I got married. I absolutely love it here. We have three beautiful and energetic children...two boys Zayn (10) and Jabran (7), and my little girl Rianna (5) who has a really weird fascination with the color pink.

My interest in scrapbooking was piqued in 2005, after seeing it on the Oprah show. I have never heard of it before! I went out and bought my first scapbooking magazine, and that is when my passion (and obsession) started. I spent many months pouring over magazines and scrapbooking sites until I finally got the nerve to create a page. I'd say that was a bad case of Scrapper's Cold Feet!

I participated in many challenge sites to help develop my craft, and in 2007 I launched my own color challenge site. Throughout the years I have been on several design teams, and have had my pages published in Scrapbook Trends Magazine as well as other online magazine publications.

My style is a bit eclectic, it all depends on my mood and the products I am working with. My top five favorite products to work with are patterned papers, stickers, little embellishments, butterfly and border punches and chipboard. Wait, that's six!

When I am not doing anything scrapbook or work related, I am enjoying my kids, my coffee, my shopping, my cooking and my reality tv shows! ;) This is going to be so much fun!!! I am so excited to be working with Melinda's fabulous Scrappy Chics kits and look forward to getting to know all of you!

LO's with March kit

I was messing around with my March kit. I had so much fun with the paper, I really like Crate Paper, their Restoration line is awesome. It has lots of doilies which are one of my favs. right now. I want to use doilies on all my LO's. They scream vintage, and I absolutely love anything vintage. FYI I also have a few things on my LO that I will be using in future kits. So maybe you can consider this a sneak peek of what's ahead in SC kits.

This is my little leprechaun, Gavin, last year for St. Patty's Day. Isn't he cute?
Anyway, I used the paper and the thickers from the kit. The little flowers were from my stash.

My Scrappy Place

I just found out that my room is going to be posted on Crafty Storage. Yeah!!!! I love that blog. I seriously look at it everyday. If you need storage ideas for all of your craft supplies that is the place to go.

Here are a few photos of my room. It is a very small room it is only 9X8 or something like that. Working in a small area forces me to stay organized. Most of my furniture I have bought off of Craig's list. It took a long time to find the right pieces to fit perfect in the areas they are in, I had no room for measurement error.

I love Jars!! They are probably my favorite way to organize ribbons,flowers and buttons. I color coordinate each in a jar, so I just grab the color I need when I'm working on a project. I think they look so pretty displayed too.

I also file my thickers by color. I found 12X12 file folders at Michaels. I cut the folders in half and file them in a drawer. It is so nice to just go to my drawer and grab the thicker color I need.

My room reflects a lot of my personality(very girly) Hee... Hee... Its my happy place!!

I just finished putting together February's kit. I have been working on a mini album with the kit. I have been having so much fun, I think my creative juices are flowing again. I’m Aimee, and I’ve been scrapbooking for almost 14 years. I grew up in Wasilla, Alaska and still live within 20 miles of where I graduated from high school. My husband and I’ve been together for over 24 years, married for five of those. We have a 14 year old daughter and a furry kid (our boxer, who’s getting up there in years). Scrapbooking has eclipsed all of the other hobbies I used to have, and I’m just now getting back into a few of them. I started trying to teach myself how to crochet, just so I could use cute little crocheted flowers on my layouts… When I’m not scrapping, I’m working and spending time with my family. I work with two of my best friends, and I’m lucky enough to laugh every day while I’m working. Having summers off, that’s when I do the bulk of my creating; but I manage to find time to sneak a page in on the weekends… You can find me at my blog: optimistic scrappiness…

Brrrrr........ Its cold outside...... Winter is here in Alaska!!!!! The weather may be cold outside but my dear friend Heathers creative juices are HOT!!!! She is the best!!!! Im so lucky to have her as a part of my Scrappy Chics team.

I have December's kit all made up and ready to go. We are just waiting for Dec. 1st to put them up on the web.

Thank you so much to everybody who bought November's kit. Please send pictures!!!! I love to see what you gals have created with my kits.

Well Heather and I have been sooooo busy creating Dec. samples. (or Heather has been, I will be burning the midnight oil Nov. 30th.) Procrastination.... Im horrible.... :) Actually Im almost finished.

My website is up and running!!!! Yeah!!! Please check it out. My November kit is flying off the shelf. I only have a few left so if you want it please hurry, because once they are gone they are gone. I'm getting ready to put together Decembers kit today. I will post a sneak peek by Friday. I love it!!! I cant wait to start creating with it.

After a long year of doing this and that in the scrapbook world, I decided to have a real website and sell my kits. My website will go live on Nov. 1st. I have already put together the first kit and it is really cute.

Here's a huge hint on November's kit, if you love Pink Paislee Nov.'s kit will be soooo sweet to you. Its filled with Sweetness.

Well here is a big tease.... I just completed "Happy Fall Ya All" It is filled with fall fun stuff. It has a little bit of everything that has to do with fall. Leaves, pumpkins and all the fun fall colors. My kits now have coordinating cardstock... Yeah!!! I love it!!!!
I also have add on paper and embellishment kits.

I have new stuff and I really need to put it together.... I went to the Dr. yesterday and I have an ear infection. (Boo Hoo Im a big baby) Im feeling a little better, the pressure is not as bad in my ear as it has been. I should have my new stuff posted by this Friday....

Oh boy!!! Today's fling is going to be interesting. I have two new kits, which are sooooo cute. They have a mix of Sassa Frass, Lilly Bee, Jenni Bowlin paper. The embellishments in the kit include, Basic Grey stamps, Sassa Frass, Glitz Design, Fancy Pants, and Jenni Bowlin. There is also a mini album by Fancy Pants. I love both kits.
Im really excited because I have a mixture of FUN papers. It is my first kits where I have been able to have papers from different companies. I LOVE to coordinate the different lines, it is way to much fun....
Come on down to the fling today, I cant wait to see you. I know its cold and rainy!! YUK!!! Its a perfect day to scrapbook!!!

I have more new stuff... I will take pics tonight and post first thing in the morning. I have been working really hard this week putting together kits for the Friday Fling this Friday. Im really excited I will have fun Alaska stuff. Plus some other super cute kits.
I will have kits filled with paper and embellishments that coordinate with the paper. I will also have "just" paper kits for you paper junkies. I have not forgot you embellishment junkies I will have "just" embellishment kits for you.
Jacquline Briggs will be with me at the fling with lots of gorgeous handmade jewelry.
